Friends of the Earth

So i entered for the ballot of next years marathon and have already started training (Think the film ‘Run Fat Boy Run’ but without the love story!). Although I wont find out till October if i am running, the hardest part was thinking about who to run for. So after much debate with my girlfriend i have decided to go for ‘Friends of the Earth’ who i have been an admirer for many years. Right, now where did i leave those trainers…

An Inconvenient Truth

I turned on the television one Saturday night to see that they were playing ‘An Inconvenient Truth’ on Channel Four. Its been a while since I have seen this but within 10mins of watching I was reminded why we need to act now and not tomorrow. If you have not seen this then I urge you to seek it out and enjoy this throughly informative documentary by Al Gore.

were spotted having a break in between shoots!

Nice to see even the the top guys in the fasion world have ethics with organic tees!

Deep Deep Snow

There is snow everywhere!

I’ve just got back from a trip to the French Alps where I had some fine snowboarding and skiing with a great buch of guys. Long hours were spent riding the fresh fallen powder every day, which took its tole on my knees by the end of the week! In fifteen years of skiing I have never seen so much fresh snow fall in one week. Kind of makes me think about our “while stocks last” tee, how long will it all last! The exchange rate and rising cost of the ski resorts make it harder and harder each year to make a trip to the Alps possible, but while I can get the money together and oil the old bones I will keep trying!!!!!!!

Holy Cluck

Inspired by programmes like Jimmy’s Farm, River Cottage and Jamie Oliver I decided I’d like to rescue some ex-battery chickens. Knowing that these poor little creatures would be slaughtered for dog food at 18 months old just because they didn’t lay a perfect egg everyday really saddened me. I also liked the thought of these funny and quirky pets in my garden enjoying a lovely retirement, not to mention some fresh eggs from happy hens. I did some research and contacted my local Battery Hen Welfare Trust coordinator who put me on the list for adoption. The poor things were bald, pale and so bemused by normal things like sky, grass under foot and more room than an A4 piece of paper sized space their battery cage gave them previously. They also have so many egg producing days ahead of them.
In the end I rescued two girls; Babs & Gladys, and bought two ‘normal’ hens; Betty & Mabel, to complete my flock. They helped to teach the battery girls how to be normal chickens. It caught on, even my mother has chooks now. They make great pets, take very little effort to look after and you can even get funky colourful houses for them in your garden called Eglus, made by a company called Omlet. Very stylish. Chickens really are addictive characters and the eggs they produce are so yummy. Give it a go yourself.

Old Skool spotted!

In August this year two Wakeskaters were spotted wearing our Old Skool tees!
The first wearing the red version is a fine and stylish amateur Wakeskater Sam”jok”Tickell
The second is a top pro rider Andrew “Ed” Eddy!
Both can be seen riding at the Xtreme-gene waterski and wakeboard school in Spain!

New featured bamboo t-shirt

Hi all,

Our latest featured t-shirt is made from 70% bamboo and 30% organic cotton, which produces a very soft light fabric. Naturally sustainable bamboo is rapidly emerging into the fashion world. Fabric woven from bamboo yarn is light, almost translucent, and softer than cotton. It has a natural quality that feels like silk, but has the advantage of being machine-washable. These are great, give them a go!

“The 56 Special” is a good true old friend of mine that I used to stomp out some tunes with in a duo called “The Star Spangled Rock Gods” what a name!
Dave Crix aka The 56 Special is a cool dude with a lot of talent and a head full of tunes that he is gradually putting down with his trusty set of old guitars, strong coffee, late nights and an Apple Mac. Dave has always been good at mixing up different vibes and getting his own unique results, check out his sounds and info on his myspace site.
